Local Spotlight

The Humane Society of Hobart provides shelter for more than 2,800 pets annually, receives more stray pets than any other agency in Lake County, helps thousands of pet families each year with pet resources and supplies, and is alongside law enforcement to provide animal field services in times of crisis. We are a vital anchor in this community.

We will keep fighting. We believe in our mission to build and strengthen pet families, we believe in humane communities and a no-kill philosophy, we believe in our community, and we believe in this team. Most of all we believe in these beautiful lives that need us...for there is nowhere else to go.

SCORE is a subset of the Small Business Administration, has been serving small businesses since 1965, providing free and confidential business counseling by phone, email, and in-person along with conducting workshops for start-up entrepreneurs and seasoned small business owners.  Click here for more information.

Exceptional Equestrians Unlimited (EEU) is a Hobart-based non-profit that provides therapeutic horseback riding services to special needs children in Northwest Indiana.  Participants in the program have a variety of developmental and physical challenges, including Autism, Down’s Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. Trained instructors develop customized lesson plans for each participant, based on the needs and abilities of the individual.  EEU is a volunteer run organization, funded primarily through private donations.  For more information on Exceptional Equestrians, check us out on Facebook.
